Dennis was not raised in a Christian home. At the age of 19, he
heard of God's love through the witness of a friend. After God answered
his prayers to revive his grandfather from a coma, Dennis accepted Jesus
as his Savior. He then felt the Lord calling him into the pastorate
and entered Toccoa Falls College. While in college, Dennis heard God's
voice in a student missions fellowship meeting and responded to the call
to go overseas.
Pam was raised in a Christian home.
She is an MK and lived in Tarsus, Turkey for 5 years with her parents.
Having felt God's call into missions, Pam entered Toccoa Falls College
and nursing school. Dennis and Pam met in their home Church in Port
Charlotte, Fl. After completing college and Master's program at
Columbia University, Dennis & Pam were in a church plant in Venice, Fl
for 5 years. Then they moved to Jacksonville, Fl to a revitalization
church for 1 1/2 years before leaving for the mission field. After 9
years of marriage, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter,
Jana. On April 5th she will be 12 years old. She is being home
schooled and is in the 6th grade.
The Bauer's spent one and a half terms
in Russia. During their first term, they studied to learn the Russian
language, then were assigned to work with the Adegei People, a Muslim unreached
people group (UPG) in the Adegei Republic, Russia. Here they began
cell groups in the capitol city of Maikop along with helping a
national with her groups along the Black Sea coast. They also taught
conversational English in the local University, starting a Bible study
with interested students. Three accepted the Lord. The head of this
Muslim university knew they were Christians and allowed them to use
the Bible saying missionaries were the only ones who stay in Russia
when the going gets tough. The last 6 months of their first term saw
the beginning of an unexpected new ministry with the another UPG, the
Turkmen people. Partnering with the Family of God here in America,
God's Word cast upon the water did not return void: 16 Muslims came to
the Lord.
Their return for their second term was met with uncertainty as to
where they would ultimately serve. Certain circumstances were keeping
them from returning to Mykop. After 6 months, however, the Lord opened
the door for them to return and once again work with the Adegei
People. They met with a group of approximately 10 people in their home
as well as participated with another group who met in another leader's
home. In addition to this, God blessed in a wonderful way by allowing
Dennis to work with and mentor 3 men. This is wonderful as the men
are very hard to reach for the gospel.
Half way into this second term, Dennis became very ill sending the
family home for what was thought a brief stay. It has extended itself
to over 3 years. During this time, the doctors found that Dennis has a
rare form of croons disease. He develops pockets of infection. For a
while he was on Remicade a form of chemotherapy (also used for
arthritis in small amounts). After almost a year on this treatment,
however, he experienced terrible side effects. So, he began seeking
natural remedies which have helped him tremendously to where he is
now, able to participate in the Lord's ministry.
During the first two years they were home, Pam went back to work
as an RN to help with the costs of the natural remedies and foods.
This last year, with Dennis' renewed strength and energy, the family
moved to Spring Hill where Dennis served as Executive Pastor,
administrating over all the ministries of the church, teaching,
training, problem solving, counseling and leading. As the mission has
encouraged them to remain in the US, they sought out a more permanent
ministry which has lead them now to West Palm and New Life Alliance
Church.
